Every Sunday morning at 9:30am Bible
classes are offered for all ages. Younger aged classes learn the great stories
of the Bible and especially learn about Jesus. Adult classes deal with a variety
of topics and always use the Bible as the tool for finding the answers for
living.
For those who attend the 10:30am worship
service, every element of the worship will appear on a projection screen and the
worship format is also listed in the bulletin you will receive as you enter. We
pray this will make you feel more comfortable and prepared for how the service
will go.
The worship will begin with a time of
welcome and announcements about events at Fairfield church. During this time
members will be asked to remain seated and greet those all around them. Visitors
will not be required to stand up or be publicly recognized
or singled out in any way.
Prayers
will be led during the worship service. These will be heart felt prayers and
will not require any verbal response from those in attendance. If you have
requests for prayer please write them on your guest card or tell one of the
members and we will make sure we pray for you. We also encourage you to go
through our web site for any other prayer requests you may have. Just
click on
Prayer Requests and
let us know your prayer need.
Hymns
of praise and worship will be sung during the worship service. Everyone in
attendance is encouraged to open up their heart and sing away. Some of the
songs will be sung using a song book and others will appear on a projection
screen. Some of the songs will possibly be familiar to you and some might be
new. You are welcome to sing along
or just listen to the words that are being sung. All of the
songs will be ‘acappella’ that is without accompaniment of musical instruments.
We pray you are inspired by hearing the voices of those around you singing
praises to the Lord.
We celebrate communion every Sunday.
The Lord’s Supper
(communion) will occur after a time of welcome and prayer and some hymns of
praise and worship have been sung. You are
free to partake of the bread and grape juice with
us or you can just pass it to the next person. This time is observed primarily
for Christians to remember the covenant they have with God through the sacrifice
of Christ. We do not hold the elements and wait to take them
together at one time.
On
a typical Sunday morning the offering is collected immediately after the Lord's
Supper (communion). On some Sundays it is collected later in the worship but
again, you will see in the bulletin and on the projection screen exactly when
the offering on the Sunday you attend will occur. As our guest, you should not feel obligated to give
an offering unless you feel moved to do so. This part of the service is for those who have committed to give
back to God through tithes and offerings so that we can participate in God’s
work. Place your visitor card in the collection basket when it’s passed.
You
will hear a Bible Lesson (sermon) during the worship service. This lesson will
usually last 25-35 minutes and will deal with life issues and how the
Bible gives us direction for dealing with them. The speaker will typically
use visual aids to teach the lesson and most scripture references will appear on
a projection screen. In the church foyer Bibles are available for you to use or
if you need one please take one home. After the Bible Lesson (sermon) an
invitation will be offered for those who seek to become Christians and baptized.
This is also a time for believers to come forward and ask for public prayers
and/or make confessions.
The worship service will typically close
with an encouraging praise song followed by a closing
prayer. We pray this information will make your visit more comfortable and
inspiring for you.
